Stripes - The third chapter begins by explaining how a child will always divert their attention to high contrast, complex patterns as opposed to their habits later in their lives. In other words, the aesthetic of the child is determined by the complexity of the pattern being presented before them. It is one of the main reasons why children are attracted to bright stripes. Movement - A similar importance is held by movement in a child’s life. A child remains attracted to movement ever since their birth. This being the reason why infants can easily be drawn to moving objects upto an extent wherein it sort of hypnotizes them. The text suggests that young babies can not only follow the nature of movement in front of them but can also predict the outcome of the moving object.
